“Monogem’s latest track crystallizes the bond between her art and her Mexican American heritage.” – Rolling Stone

Los Angeles alt-R&B star MONOGEM has shared her new single ‘Feeling Myself’ – an empowering anthem that celebrates loving yourself again and inspires listeners to embrace their individuality and feel confident in their own skin. Following on the success of her debut bilingual album ‘Gardenia’ which amassed over 10 million streams, opening for Maluma at Penske Media’s LA3C festival, being spotlighted by Billboard for their ‘On The Radar Latin’ feature and her ‘Body Breathe’ collab with LP Giobbi, ‘Feeling Myself’ sees her teaming up with songwriter Alida (Kylie Minogue, Sofia Carson, Twice, Taeyeon) and producers Smile High (The Main Squeeze) and Bluf, who are signed to Jason Evigan’s Chumba Music.

Along with a music video directed by Mekael Dawson & creative direction from Laurie TB, it also features dazzling custom outfits and styling from OLIMA Studio who is famed for his work with artists such as Lady Gaga, Grimes, MARINA, Gwen Stefani, SZA, Banks, Beyonce, Jarina De Marco & Carla Morrison.

MONOGEM says,

“After a global pandemic, releasing my debut bilingual album and becoming a mother for the first time, it was easy to lose my identity. I want to celebrate the feeling of loving yourself again in a way that feels like a homecoming or an arrival into one’s self. This song is my homecoming, I’ve never felt more like myself and at home in my own body. I want my listeners to feel confident and comfortable with who they are.”

Having solidified her status with an illustrious career in the electronic and pop space, embracing her Mexican heritage was the turning point for MONOGEM in finding her sound. She released her debut Spanish single ‘Soy Lo Que Soy’ in 2019 to critical acclaim which gave her the confidence to release more throughout 2020 including a haunting rendition of the timeless bolero ‘Bésame Mucho’ and begin work on her highly anticipated debut album, Gardenia, which is intertwined with the memories of her abuela who told her to never forget her roots & to keep the culture alive.

MONOGEM has opened for artists such as Christine & The Queens, Y La Bamba, Allie X, Betty Who, Ximena Sarinana, Nilüfer Yanya and Yuna and collaborated with artists such as Lenno, Lemaitre, Qveen Herby & Georgel.
